Okay. I can see the promised land of March 18th. 70 more days and X number of shed pounds, Y lowered BMI count, Z additional muscle and stamina to be achieved.
And in order to get there I must go through hell. A hell of my own choosing, as usual.
The hell I speak of is a Los Angeles famous institution called Barry’s Bootcamp. I have friends who have done it before, and in fact I have one who just signed up for a fresh round of pain starting this week.
This Bootcamp is a gym where they beat the shit out of you with cardio and weights for an hour-plus. Their Academy program is a morning session 5 days a week for 4 weeks where they assault every single muscle and synapse to jolt you onto the right path.
I did a little interwebbing and found their program on video online – albeit with a lot of commercials – and I did it today and wanted to vomit numerous times. Not unlike my first yoga session that bettor RC took me to in November before I found my way to the ability to achieve a triangle, buncha warriors, inversions and a vinyasa or forty.
I know yoga and weights and the Total Gym I have are completely non-impact and frankly non-cardio as well, so it was a matter of time before I had to face the music.
After the first 4 minutes of the Boot Camp cardio workout, I could barely breathe and trembled from the shock. It was quite possibly one of the worst experiences of my life and most definitely the program I am adopting into my regimen starting today.
If you’d like to take a peek at the devil and his methods – in two parts, cardio then weights, here is the link:

I have to go pass out now, since my triceps can’t take the typing and I fear I’m facing an hour of leg work from Commandante Barry in the manana…
I don’t do boot camps. No way jose. You are a bigger man than i.
